Prayer of a Father and a Husband

Dear Jesus,  I place myself in Your presence. I put my whole life at Your disposal. I acknowledge my shortcomings and failures. I give up my pretenses and excuses. You lived among us and experienced a family. You shared the Father's love. You showed us how to be obedient and dutiful children.

Today, my Lord, with Your blessing and guidance; I renew my marital commitment:

to love my wife till my last breath,
to serve and not to abuse,
to cherish and not to forsake,
to be faithful and not to betray,
to forgive and not to accuse,
to protect and not to hurt.

With your grace, I also renew my obligation to my child:

to take care of her as to give her a better future,
to share my time as to let her feel that I love her,
to give my love as to provide her a worthy life,
to show her good examples as to rear her as a worthy child.

And for these, my dear God, I humbly seek Your blessing. Guide us against all harm and secure us from any danger. Let me live longer for my family. Let me be strong to work in view of their future.

Make our house also Your home. Live among us and stay with us, dear Lord. May we live united as a family like the Holy Family at Nazareth. Amen.

How A Child Is Wonderfully Made By God

1st Month
Week 1
You’re not pregnant. This is the week of the start of your last period. as the uterus sheds its lining and causes bleeding, the hormones are preparing another egg for release.
Week 2
You’re still not pregnant. The uterine lining is thickening and ovulation (the release of an egg) is getting ready to occur. You may feel a twinge pain as ovulation occurs.
Week 3
This could be the week. When an egg is released into your fallopian tube, it meets up with your partner's sperm. (There are 350 million sperms in the average ejaculation that have a chance at making the trip into the fallopian tube. The ones that make it will wait there for an egg as long as four days) when the sperm penetrates an egg, fertilization (conception) occurs. The fertilized egg is called a zygote. Immediately the egg begins dividing into identical cells as it floats down the fallopian tube to the uterus. Now you're pregnant.
Week 4
There’s lots of action going on that you are completely unaware of. your little zygote finds its nesting place in the uterus and is now called blast cyst. Once in the uterus, it divides in half: one-half sticks to the uterine wall and becomes the placenta (the life-support system that brings nourishment into your baby and takes waste out). The other half will become the baby. Transvaginal ultrasound shows a gestational sac (a small circle that will become the baby's home). by the end of this week, you will have missed your period, giving you the first sign that something's up. Some women see a slight spotting called implantation bleeding that happens when the blast cyst nestles into the uterine wall.
Week 5
At this point a pregnancy test can confirm the pregnancy. Your baby is about the size of an apple seed and is now called an embryo with a beating heart of its own. The placenta and the umbilical cord are in full operation. You would be shocked to see how rapidly your baby is developing:

Epilogue: The Wife of Noble Character

Proverbs 31:10-31
New International Version (NIV)

10 A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.

11 Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value.

12 She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.

13 She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands.

14 She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar.

15 She gets up while it is still night; she provides food for her family and portions for her female servants.

16 She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.

17 She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks.

18 She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night.

19 In her hand she holds the distaff and grasps the spindle with her fingers.

20 She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy.

21 When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet.

22 She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple.

23 Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.

24 She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes.

25 She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.

26 She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.

27 She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.

28 Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:

29 “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.”

30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.

31 Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

I'll Make it Clear: I AM THE MOM

Ever heard yourself saying these lines? . . . .

Most Moms do and I'm no exception. I can still clearly hear my own Mom saying these lines and God, I miss her so much. Now that I am a Mom myself, I'm beginning to say these things too to my daughter, Leecia.

Do we nag when we do that? Nope, we only love. We want our children to grow up as organized individuals,  mature, independent and with greater sense of responsibility for themselves, to other people, to mother earth and love for God.

Mom's Song (We Think We'll Keep You)

Moms are special people
They hug you all the time
They help you do a lot of things
You might be scared to try
They take us to the playground
The movies and the zoo
Mom, we're really lucky
Cause we've got you

When we get in trouble
As little angels can
We know we're gonna get that look
From our biggest fan
She lets us know we messed up
And sometimes she gets mad
But even then, she's still the best mom
To kids ever had

Oh, Mother, we need you every day
We think we'll keep you
Oh, Mother, we love you
Even more than songs can say

You're funny and you're smart
You finish what you start
If we could, we'd elect you
President of the Mothers
No matter where you go
We hope it always shows...
You're the very best Mom we know

Oh, Mother, we need you every day
We think we'll keep you
Oh, Mother, we love you
Even more than songs can say

You're the very best, specialest person in the world

Ben 10 Omnitrix

Our children are our biggest treasure from God. They are the most important members of our family. It is important to us that we take care of them and make them happy. Our children are happiest when they are at play. While playing, they enjoy their life and are out of everything in this world. They live in a wonderful world, full of joy. Toys are one of the most important elements of their play. Playing with toys prepares them for social role and provides entertainment while teaching them about different things. Toys help in the physical as well as the mental development of our children.

Toys are our children’s joy and these toys are found in many different forms.  They may be represented by dolls, animals, infants, soldiers, tools and many more. They also include different types of vehicles like cars, buses, motorbikes, trains, trucks, and airplane etc. Children’s toys could also exist in the shape of building blocks and puzzles. A puzzle is a problem that challenges human’s ability in applying ideas to solve a problem. In solving a puzzle, one has to recognize a pattern or create a particular order. Children with good deductive skills are able to solve puzzle games easy and faster than other children.

There is a wide variety of children’s toys available in the market that gives each child the chance to choose. Most children are interested in collecting different toys. To some, they have a complete collection of action figures, cartoon characters, Barbie dolls, teddy bears, stuffed toys and animals, super heroes, cooking sets, doll houses, matchbox cars, and many more.

My five year old daughter, Leecia has collected a lot of toys from friends and relatives, although half of her presents were mostly books. She has no specific collection of anything except that she loves stickers and her stuffed animals.  Aside from toys, her other favorite includes watching educational children shows, the Simpsons, Ben 10, Smurfs, Pacman, Dora the Explorer, Go Diego Go and so many other kids’ shows.

This year, my daughter’s most prized possession is her OMNITRIX (Ben 10’s). She has convinced her Papa to buy it for her last July. From then on, she wears the Omnitrix every day, day in and day out. She only removes it when she takes a bath. From the day she got the Omnitrix, she has never worn her dresses and sandals. According to her, those girly clothes will not match her Omnitrix. She also had her hair always pony tailed.  She said that the Omnitrix has given her powers that she survived 5 vaccines, fought bad aliens in her dreams and stayed brave in everything that scared her. She has the complete seasons of Ben 10 and Ultimate Ben 10.

Children are entertained by playing with their toys as they think of them as if they are real. Toys’ main purpose is to bring joy to children. They are very helpful in preparing children in learning new and bigger things.  We may not notice it, but toys play a very important role in the development of our children’s well being.  Children’s desire for toys changes over time because their needs vary from one stage to another. She may not remember how she played when she was still a baby or how much she liked to put things together, yet it will show in the person she has grown into.

Mommies are Angels Without Wings

Larry and I settled down in our mid 30s.  Two years after our wedding, we were blessed with a child.  Considering our ages and our health, I said to myself that one child is just enough and she will be the only one we will ever need and love. It was an awesome feeling when the pregnancy test showed a positive sign. We offered thanksgiving prayers. I began a scrapbook documenting my child’s development from the time she first said “Hi Papa and Mommy!” in the pregnancy test, up to the time I gave birth to her. In one of the scrapbook’s pages, I have this conversation between a child and God. This is how it goes. . .

Once upon a time, there was a child to be born. One day, the child asked God: “God, I was told that you are going to send me to earth tomorrow. How am I supposed to live there when I am so helpless and small?” Then God replied, “Among the many angels, I chose one especially for you. She will wait for you and she will take care of you.”

“But God, here in heaven, I do nothing but sing and smile. Those are enough for me to be happy.” “Every day, your angel will sing and smile for you, and you will feel your angel’s love and be happy.” “But how will I understand them if they talk to me?  I don’t know their language.” “Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweetest words you will ever hear. With patience and care, your angel will also teach you how to speak.”

“What will I do when I want to speak to you?” “Your angel will teach you how to pray by placing your hands together.” “They said that the people on earth are bad men, who will protect me?” “Your angel will defend you. She will sacrifice her life just for you.”

“I think I’m going to be sad because I will no longer see you.” “Don’t be my child. Your angel will always talk to you about me. She will teach you the ways for you to come back to me here in heaven.  I will always be next to you.”

It was so peaceful in heaven that moment, but voices from earth could already be heard. The child was in a hurry, she softly asked God: “If I am about to go now, please tell me my angel’s name.” “Your angel’s name is not important; you will simply call her “Mommy.”

I constantly remind myself of that heavenly duty entrusted upon me. It is a lifetime loving commitment I promised to my child, to my family and most especially, to God. All Moms share this same sentiment, don’t we? We’re blessed to be Moms.

A Child’s Commandments to Parents

Look through a child’s eyes and you will see the real meaning of life. Being a parent means you have been given life’s most miraculous and rewarding gift. A child gives you the chance to share genuinely the love and passion that dwells within your heart and soul. The moment a child enters your world, your life will definitely change.

As parents, it is our goal that we prepare our children. It is not necessarily an easy thing, but a simple one. We may fall short at times, but don’t get discouraged. Just keep doing your best and ask for heavenly guidance, for He knows the key to each of our children’s heart and how to mould them best. Below are a child’s commandments to parents on how to take care of them.

1. My hands are small, so please don't expect perfection if I make the bed, draw pictures or throw a ball. My legs are short, I may not keep up with you, so please be slow.

2. My eyes have not seen the world as yours have. Please let me explore safely and don’t restrict me unnecessarily.

3. Housework will always be there and I'm only little for such a short time. Take the time to
teach and explain to me about the things in this beautiful world, and do it so willingly.

4. Please be sensitive to my needs, for my feelings are tender.  Never nag me all day long. For sure, you wouldn't like to be nagged for your inquisitiveness. Treat me as you would like to be treated.

5. Please treasure me for I am a special gift from God. Hold me accountable for my actions. Give me guidelines to live by and discipline me in a loving manner.

6. Please go easy on the criticism. Keep in mind that you can criticize the things I do without criticizing me. I need your encouragement and praise for me to grow.

7. Please give me the freedom to make decisions about myself. Allow me to fail so I can learn from my mistakes and someday, I'll be prepared to make the kind of decisions life requires of me.

8. Please don't do things over for me, because it will make me feel that my efforts didn’t measure up to your expectations. I know it's hard, but please don't try to compare me with my brother or my sister.

9. Please don't be afraid to leave for a weekend together. Kids like us needs vacations from parents too, just as parents need vacations from their kids. Moreover, it's a great way to show us that your marriage is very special.

10. Please take me to worship regularly, setting good examples to follow. Strive to be the greatest parent you know you could be and eternally strive for growth and development.

Our God above has entrusted to us the care and love for these angels of His. They were sent to us as gifts and blessings. They are the hugs and kisses of our past and the love and comfort of our future. They deserve every right to be kids. Every child retiring to bed happily at night brings blessings, peace, and love to the family the next day. God who sent them to us is always watching and He never leaves them until the day that they go back to the place where they are truly loved.
